A postpartum doula's main goal is to 'mother the mother' and nurture the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn(s). A postpartum doula works with each family to find out their particular needs.

       

My postpartum services include the following:                  

  • Prenatal consult/visit

  • Email and phone support before due date, during my care, and up to 3 months after my support has ended

  • Hospital visit on postpartum unit if desired

  • Help with emotional and physical recovery after birth

  • Encourage you to rest and take a nap (while I stay with your baby(s))

  • Assistance with deciding and finding what you may or may not need for baby

  • Demonstration and support of newborn care

  • Helping to establish a routine as the family transitions into new roles

  • Breastfeeding and feeding support (demonstration of paced bottle feeding)

  • Newborn soothing techniques

  • Sibling care

  • Referral to local community resources such as support groups, parenting classes, health care practitioner, lactation consultant etc.

  • Attend appointments with mom and baby.

  • Light housekeeping and tidying

  • Baby and mom laundry (nursing clothing)

  • Light meal preparation 

  • Lending library

  • Running errands (grocery shopping and mail pickup)

  • Custom packages available

All of my services may include but are not limited to the above.

My services are non medical. I also provide respite services. If baby has already arrived or you are not sure how many hours you need during the weeks to come you can contact me 24 hours in advance to schedule a shift.
