My Story

Hello, my name is Gayle and for as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about supporting new moms and their families. Because of this  I pursued a career  in nursing. I worked postpartum at B.C. Women's Hospital with great passion. During this time, I also became a mother. Following  the birth of my fourth child,  I left the nursing profession and focused my care and attention on raising  my children.

Although my professional experience was invaluable during the early postpartum period, it did not prepare me for how truly overwhelming becoming a new mother could be. I was amazed at how physically and emotionally exhausting taking care of a newborn was. When would I find time to eat or take a shower and take care of myself! I quickly learned that having support during these early days and months would be paramount in my overall health and well being and in turn this would benefit my entire family.

As a postpartum doula my goal is to provide non judgmental, emotional, informational, practical, and physical support. I believe in family centered care so all those who surround the mother can learn and understand how important  taking care of the new mother is. My nursing background and my personal background both enable me to be adaptable and flexible to so many different situations. The doula profession is a natural progression for me and I feel honored to work with each and every family I support.
